Passionate and self-disciplined, French sculptor Antoine Bourdelle (1861 - 1929) saw the value of daily drawing exercises, giving rise to an important collection of graphic works. The Bourdelle Museum in Paris unveils the first major exhibition to be dedicated to the sculptor's drawings. This exhibition also marks the 150th anniversary of the artist's death.Two hundred works, many of which are unpublished, have been selected from among this most significant of museum collections which was recently inventoried at over 7,000 pieces. The works retrace the sculptor's career from 1875 to 1929, revealing, in the artist's own words "the essential role of draughtsmanship in an artist's life".
